Great artist! You see that he worked in the period of transition between Romanticism and Impressionism. From his manner of painting seems to me to note an influence of the style of the great masters of French Romanticism, as Gericault and Delacroix, and at the same time, some of his paintings, in the style, very reminiscent of the painting of Eduard Manet. Or am I wrong?

In Paris, where he lived for about ten years, Hunt studied painting under Thomas Couture, who was also Manet’s teacher.
