Wonderful detail from bed covers to glasses on the table. Child’s expression is priceless. Wells is a little known artist who did portraits, murals and mosaics.He had an extensive teaching career at Syracuse University and the University of Ilinois-Urbana, among others. I am working on a biography of Wells.

Hi. I have just seen your post. I have an 1884 portrait by NA Wells and I am wondering how to get it valued. I am just a person, not a gallery, and I hate to have to pay a year’s fee to an online auction house just to get some info. Can you help me at all with this? I would be glad to send you a photo. I have had this painting for over 50 years and maybe no one knows about it but me – and now you!
