Wonderful variety of styles for one artist! The piece, “A Street Barber’s Stall” is interesting in that it looks like it may be from Turkey. Was William Closson related to Sarah Ann Closson, the missionary to Turkey from Thetford Vermont?

William B. Closson was also born in Thetford, Vermont, but that’s all I know. I think that the scene depicted in “A Street Barber’s Stall” refers to Damascus, as it was originally an illustration published on a travel journal titled “Picturesque Palestine, Sinai And Egypt”, written by sir Charles William Wilson.
